God Is Good.

God Is Good.

Psalms_100-5: For the Lord is good; his mercy is everlasting; and his truth endureth to all generations.

Psalm 118: 19-25

There is a popular slogan of greeting among brethren today: Our LORD is good. Guess the response: All the time. This is a Psalm of thanksgiving and celebration which covers different aspects of humanity in a poetic pattern. Verse 1 gives a good summary of what the Psalm is all about, namely, giving thanks to the Lord because He is good. Also, because of his Love which endures all season.

How do you personally view this God? Is He good as suggested by the Psalmist? God in His love, answers prayer (vs. 5), grants his presence (vs. 6-7), He gives victory (vs. 10-12), sustains and supports His children (vs. 13-14) and exercises discipline. Do you willingly accept God’s discipline or do you ask ‘why me?’

As a Christian, notice the Psalmist’s declaration of faith and decision in life in vs. 7, 21, 24, &28. In this Psalm, memorable references to the Messiah abound in vs. 22, 23, 26. You may be passing through horrible experiences presently, have you taken vs. 6 & 7 to heart? You will be amazed to find out the two verses speaking to your life. Really, God is good.

MEMORY VERSE:
Psalm 118:29 “Give thanks to the Lord, for He is good, His love endures forever.”

PRAYER:
Good and gracious God, let me always enjoy your goodness in Jesus’ name. Amen.

2 Sam. 15-16

King David said, “Call in Zadok the priest, Nathan the prophet and Benaiah son of Jehoiada.” When they came before the king, 33 he said to them: “Take your lord’s servants with you and have Solomon my son mount my own mule and take him down to Gihon. 34 There have Zadok the priest and Nathan the prophet anoint him king over Israel. Blow the trumpet and shout, ‘Long live King Solomon!’
