Christ The Power Of God, And The Wisdom Of God

Christ The Power Of God, And The Wisdom Of God

I Corinthians 1:23-24, “But we preach Christ crucified, unto the Jews a stumbling block, and unto the Greeks foolishness; But unto them which are called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ the power of God, and the wisdom of God.”

Jesus is the Wonderful Counsellor because He is the power and wisdom of God. Jesus is the one who can give us the power to help us overcome all of life’s problems and the wisdom to know how to deal with them when we fall into a snare or a trap or a pit.

The counsellors in the natural realm can help us with problems but they can only do so much, they can only go so far. By contrast, Jesus, the Wonderful Counsellor, has the ability to help us deal with the root cause of our problem. As Hebrew tells us in Hebrews 5:2, “He is able to deal gently with the spiritually ignorant and misguided, since he is also subject to human weakness.” Hebrews 4:15 says, “For we do not have a High Priest who cannot sympathize with our weaknesses, but was in all points tempted as we are, yet without sin.”

In other words, Jesus understands our problems. He is sympathetic to our failure but He is too good a counsellor to just let us do whatever we want to do and ignore the consequences. He knows our problems, He has the counsel necessary that will help us. And if we would listen and follow His advice we will always be victorious.
