And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not.
If somehow Christians were afforded the opportunity to see the entire army of God assembled in one area, they would be astonished. Could you imagine over a half billion believers gathered together in full armor? What an encouragement this would be to the straggling soldier who feels as if he has lost the battle. What a blessing this would be for the warriors of the Lord in China to meet together with the sold-out saints in Nicaragua. What an honor to be a part of the greatest army in the world. Not only is it the greatest army in the world, but in the words of John Newton, it is assured of victory.
The Lord has chosen, called and armed us for the fight; and shall we wish to be excused? Shall we not rather rejoice that we have the honor to appear in such a cause, under such a Captain, such a banner and in such company? A complete suit of armor is provided, weapons not to be resisted, and precious balm to heal us if we receive a wound, and precious ointment to revive us when we are close to fainting.
Further, we are assured of the victory beforehand. And O what a crown is prepared for every conqueror. Jesus, the righteous Judge, the gracious Savior, shall place the crown upon every faithful head with His own hand! Then let us not be weary and faint, for in due season we shall reap.
So be encouraged, soldier. Today you carry your cross, tomorrow you wear your crown, Amen!
